I absolutely love seeing my kids, that’s how I think of our students, come back and share their successes. I have several who struggled emotionally and academically but one of my favorite successes graduated with honors from UT Nursing and has been accepted into Medical school. Warms my heart!

I cannot think of a higher joy than helping another person be successful. I’ve worked in business and with adults, but working with teenagers is my bliss. My favorite class to teach is high school speech because helping our students develop the confidence and poise to present themselves is such a joy. I get to know the hearts of the students here at the Academy through their speeches. That has always been something I consider a great privilege.

I love teaching any kind of science. Having a proper view of science gives great joy to its study. When it’s viewed as something which is simply useful and exciting and no more than that, it becomes what it always should have been. In this context, science becomes much more fun and engaging to the students, and they feel free to take part and make their own observations.

My favorite subject to teach is World History. World History is the study of everything humans have ever thought, said and done world-wide and there is much that is exciting, fascinating and fun to teach. Also, the study of World History allows us to learn about the nature of man, our achievements and failures as God’s unique creation and the working of God’s providence through history.

One of my favorite teaching moments was leading prayer time with a group of middle school students at RRCA and asking them to pray in their native language – it was an amazing experience! Our Heavenly Father heard our prayers in English, Chinese and Spanish. It is a blessing to teach Spanish and a joy to hear our students pray and memorize God’s Word in another language.

What I enjoy most about teaching are those “ah-ha” moments students have when they finally accomplish a challenging task. I want to inspire my students to keep trying, even when sometimes it seems easier to give up. Galatians 6:9 tells us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
